Planning, not a safety guarantee: Conditions, access, fees, closures, hazards, trail conditions, and local rules can change. Check official sources and current conditions before heading out.

1. Open BlueGreen Guide

Map-first 89 active field-test places

On desktop, planning tools and results sit beside the interactive map. On mobile, use the Explore, Map, and Nearby navigation to move between discovery, mapping, and location-aware views.

2. Choose Water or Land when useful

The current field-test build includes blue-space, green-space, and mixed destinations. Water focuses on water places and water activities. Land focuses on parks, reserves, gardens, trails, and other land-centered places. Mixed destinations intentionally qualify for both.

3. Try a curated collection

Collections provide exact editorial shortlists such as Beginner Favorites, Family Friendly, Calm Water, Harbor Paddles, and Scenic Views. Collections can be combined with search and other filters.

Use Search Places to search names, aliases, regions, water bodies, place/activity taxonomy, amenities, tags, descriptions, and paddle-suitability values where relevant.

Places and regions

Try a city, park, lake, harbor, reserve, or recognizable place name.

Activities and features

Try terms such as paddle, beginner, rentals, scenic, park, or trail.

5. Narrow the results

Water/Land discovery can be combined with search and collections. Paddle-relevant places also support the existing region, skill, water-activity, and maximum-difficulty filters.

6. Compare place cards

Cards summarize the information most useful for the current place. Paddle-relevant places may show SUP Suitability, Difficulty, Wind Sensitivity, Typical Use, Staging Space, and other Launch Suitability guidance. Green-space records do not need paddle-only fields.

7. Open place details

Open the detail view for a fuller description, available imagery, planning fields, verification notes, and official source links. Treat representative photography and inferred coordinates according to their labels rather than assuming they are field-verified.

8. Check before going

Confirm access

Check official park, harbor, marina, city, county, state, tribal, or federal sources for current access, parking, fees, closures, and rules.

Review current conditions

For water trips, check weather, wind, tides where relevant, water conditions, water quality, and local advisories. For land trips, check closures, fire restrictions, trail conditions, weather, and applicable advisories.

Plan for your situation

Consider your experience, equipment, companions, mobility needs, and comfort level. A planning label is not a guarantee that a place or current conditions are suitable for everyone.
